Somatic Joy class
A unique class that combines elements of 5 rhythms dance, Qigong, Somatics and hatha yoga together. After teaching for 20 years it became apparent that in order for the body to release stress, feel alive and joyful it requires a holistic approach that can invite us into a space of play and curiosity.
The class begins with a qigong practice of tapping a shaking to uplifting music inviting you to sense into your body from the inside out in order to let go of stress. You will then be guided through a nourishing Somatic Yoga class where we will move with awareness slowly and deliberately through traditional Hatha Yoga poses that utilise hanna somatic principles. The class winds down by laying on the floor for pure Somatic movement to ground you and meditation to take you into stillness.
A class that uses a technique of pandiculation to reprogram muscles to their optimal length in a resting position. Instead of only stretching muscles this class utilises progressive intelligent movement-based practices based on the work of Thomas Hanna, Dr Stephen Porges ( Polyvagal Theory) and Martha Peterson. Somatic movement classes will help unwind stiffness, pain and postural imbalances, calm the nervous system and increasing flexibility through brain-to-muscle re-education. When the body, brain and nervous system are working together in harmony there will be a rediscovering of what it means to live and move with freedom and ease.
Yoga Nidra (relaxation)
Yoga Nidra is the yoga of sleep, it will help prepare your mind and body for deep and restful nights sleep.
We also use very simple Hanna Somatic movements to help prepare the body and mind to let go of any tension.
This class can be taken with your camera switched off as this is an audio experience.
Highly recommended for busy minds and people who want to pause and rest to feel rested and deeply relaxed.
